Each religion adheres to a holy book containing its founder's philosophies and ideologies. For example, the Bible is the sacred book of Christianity; the Quran is the sacred book of Islam, and so on. However, if you are interested in Hinduism's sacred texts, you will be surprised to learn that this religion has no specific holy book. Despite being the third most popular religion in the world, Hinduism has no founder, no date of origin, and thus no single holy book. To know about THE GODS OF HINDUISM, click here

The Vedas, on the other hand, is a familiar scripture that every Hindu regards as sacred. In addition to the Vedas, other Hindu writings are mentioned below.

The Vedas.

These are the almighty God's first spoken words and are classified into four types. There are four Vedas: the Rig Veda, the Yajur Veda, the Sama Veda, and the Atharva Veda. These are primary Hindu writings that have had a significant impact on Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism. The Rig Veda is the earliest of the four Vedas, dating back to around 1500 B.C. The date of composition of the Vedas is unknown, but it is thought to be about 300 B.C. The Vedas are Hinduism's holy bible, containing chants, rituals, and hymns from ancient India. These are among the most ancient religious texts in existence worldwide.

Upanishads

Because there is no holy book for Hinduism, followers read and adopt ideologies stated in Hindu cultural books. The Upanishads are yet another set of Hindu religious scriptures. These were created between 800 and 400 B.C. to continue Vedic philosophy. They primarily discuss how meditation and contemplation can connect the Aatma, or human soul, with the ultimate spiritual truth, Brahman. The doctrine of Karma, the cumulative effect of a person's deeds, is also discussed in the Upanishads.

The Legends

The Ramayana and Mahabharata are the Indian country's national epics. They are the longest poems ever written in any language. The Mahabharata was written between 540 and 300 B.C. by the sage Vyasa. It discusses the legends of the Vedic Aryan race. The Ramayana was written in the first century A.D. by the poet Valmiki. It is a long love story with spiritual and moral themes that continue to influence Hindu culture today.

Puranas

The Puranas are ancient stories that describe God's glorious actions, elaborate on the world's geography, and explain God's creation and the lineages of the kings. There are 18 Puranas, divided into three subcategories, each named after a god. Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma are their names.

The Bhagwad Gita

For most Hindus, the Bhagwad Gita is an eternal truth that contains Krishna's teachings and advice to Arjun during the Kurukshetra battle in Mahabharata. In addition, the Gita has shlokas that show how to live a peaceful life. As a result, it is considered a Hindu holy book.
