The temptation must be our favorite restaurant around the Dutch side of the isle - totally reliable, constantly good, THE place for a beautiful evening out. For a start, the theme is very different from other isle restaurants. It's sleeker, improved, and more like what you would find inside New York or London, with tasteful water features, artist light fixtures, comfortable beige banquettes, elegantly laid furniture, and the soft playing of a baby grand piano. Owner and also chef Dino Jagtiani, a nearby St Maartiner, has done his or her island proud. After getting the first St Maarten-born to be able to graduate from the Culinary Initiate of America he delivered to SXM in 2002 to open his restaurant, Temptations. He offers nouveau Caribbean cuisine with dishes just like the Temptation 'Reed & Beef,' lobster tail sautéed with garlic and paired with any hoisin braised beef quick, a plantain tart, and also corn-black bean salsa or maybe the popped black bean crusted tuna with wasabi mashed potato. Our favorite appetizer has to be the tempura mussel shooters with coconut curry and wakame. The favorite main is the braised veal osso bucco with shitake mushrooms and pinenut risotto. Dino and the cafe have won a long list of accolades, including multi-time gold medallist at the Taste of the Carribbean Awards held in Miami, Cafe of the Year in the 08 Gault Millau Guide, one of many Top 10 Restaurants in the Carribbean in Bon Appetit Journal... the list goes on.

Often in the off-season, they offer a set menu for about $50. This is an excellent benefit as the dishes are the same ones on the major a la carte menu, thus, making this place a total must-do!

To obtain the restaurant, head for the Atlantis Casino, after the golf course and before Cupecoy. Park around the casino parking lot and find the restaurant on the side of the access road.
