The growing Sydney coronavirus outbreak has sparked a fresh alert in Melbourne after an infected man in his 60s flew into the city at the weekend.

Victorian authorities believe the man went to a small gathering in Sydney attended by a person who later tested positive for COVID-19. Health officials initially suggested the event was a West Hoxton birthday party that had been described as a “super spreading event”, but they have since clarified that it was a separate function.
