Can you sterilize a needle using steam or boiling water?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the moist heat method is the most effective method to sterilize needles. Since it kills microorganisms, which is the reason why moist heating is so effective.

In a medical setting Autoclaves can be employed to sterilize needles or other medical equipment by pressurizing saturated steam. They can be very costly and are not suitable for use at home.

Sterilizing needles by boiling water isn't the same as using steam that is pressurized and is not 100% sterilization. However, it kills several microorganisms. Boiling doesn't suffice to kill bacteria that are resistant to heat, like endospores.
