Pumpkin - the donkey with a personality

New Paradigm Ranch

I owned Pumpkin from December 21st, 2002, when she was given to me, until her death in February 4th, 2016. To be an owner of Pumpkin wasn't always easy for me because of her very independent mind. Therefore, as I see it now, everything was more about a friendship, than about an ownership. That's why she could enjoy so much freedom of what she wanted. One reason for that was my absolute trust in her.

Pumpkin found her new home at New Paradigm Ranch, LLC, in Gardnerville, NV, a wonderful place with wonderful people, where every God's creature must be happy and where they take a good care of all animals, including Pumpkin. Thank you very much for everything, Jeannette! Your ranch will always be a very special place for me, with wonderful view of Sierras, with lots of mud on rainy and snowy days and with your treatment of all animals without discrimination. My thanks also go to Carmen and Bruce for taking an excellent care of the whole ranch. Well done!

I think Pumpkin was very happy there, in her new shelter, because she didn't have anything like that when we met her for the first time. Her shelter used to be a place under a tree... My biggest wish, to have my own house with room for Pumpkin, never came true. I wanted that to have more convenient access to her because she has always been considered a member of our family.

Pumpkin moved to her second home in July 2011, after NPR closed for business.
