Pumpkin - the donkey with a personality

Discovery

Everything best in one's life is usually discovered by an accident, and it wasn't different with Pumpkin.

One day, it was in early summer of 1999, during one of our usual round trips to the local town of Genoa, we saw at Foothill Road a cute donkey standing behind a fence and looking friendly at us.

She was alone there, no one arround. My mom insisted on stopping there and visiting her. First, I didn't like moms idea bacuse I wanted to continue with our trip. On the other hand, I didn't want to disappoint her eather. My dilema ended by parking our car next to a fence, and we slowly approached Pumpkin.

There was something about her that immediatelly took our attention -- her distinct personality that we have admired ever since.

We tried to pet her but she probably wasn't used to it because she didn't want let us to touch her. We had to be very careful otherwise she would tried to bite us. After some time we discovered from an article posted on Internet that her behaviour was related to insulin resistance patches on her body that supposed to be very touch sensitive.

That's how our wonderful and lasting fiendship with Pumpkin has begun and never ended!
