Google Doodle - simple and addictive games

The original purpose of Google Doodle

Interestingly, Google is just a search engine, with the help of which you can find any information you are interested in, but here you can also find addictive games that will not let you get bored. But it is important to realize that initially the company did not plan to add games to the browser and the system itself. They were given the name Google Doodle, but even here not everything is so simple. Initially, the word Doodle implied a temporary only temporary change to the logo. This was done in order to highlight a significant event, thereby preventing users from forgetting about it. Soon Google decided that games would attract much more attention, and so the concept of Doodle underwent a strong change for the better.

It's funny that at the moment almost every user who goes to Google in search of some information can take a little break from work and have fun playing the game. It is important to note that anyone can find games for themselves. If you are a fan of chess, you can play a game right in the browser. And if you prefer more dynamic games, you can also launch an exciting arcade in the style of Flappy Bird and test yourself.

And this is just a short list of those popular google doodle games that have been added to the search engine for decades. Well, now it's time to dive into history and learn about how Doodles originated.

The first logo and the first game

Initially, the Google logo was boring and did not transform from year to year. To fix this, the company decided to do a small rebranding, but one that would always let people know where they were going. That is why it was decided to modify the logo only for holidays and other significant events. For the first time it happened in 1998, and it was timed to the Burning Man event. It's funny that the developers didn't plan to turn it into a tradition. Larry Page and Sergey Brin are the Google team members who first transformed the logo, making it memorable and stand out from the rest. This was done for one purpose - to inform users that in case of a server crash, they would not be able to help in any way, as they would be at Burning Man. But the users liked the drawing and the idea so much that soon such changes began to be repeated.

One of the first Doodles appeared in 1998, and it was timed to coincide with Thanksgiving. Since then, it has been common for Google to celebrate events such as: New Year's Eve, March 8, Earth Day, Valentine's Day, Halloween, Mother's Day, Christmas, and others. The tradition of changing the logo depending on the event has been preserved to this day. Therefore, even now, going to Google, you can see a modified or even interactive logo.

As far as interactivity is concerned, it's not as clear-cut as it might seem. Since the first Doodles were just modified versions of the company's classic logo, no one would have thought that they would soon turn into animations. This first happened on October 31, 2000, when the whole world was celebrating Halloween. This particular day was the first time Google Doodle became animated. It's funny that all the following years Google stuck to this concept and made animated logos, but it wasn't until ten years later, on May 21, 2010, that the first interactive Doodle appeared. It was dedicated to the most popular and fascinating Pac-Man arcade.

It was this arcade that became the prototype for Google Doodle, which to this day can still be found on a special page in the search engine. In this game, you had to control a familiar character and avoid collisions with ghosts. At the same time, it is important to run through the maze and collect coins. The distinctive feature of this incomplete and browser version of Pac-Man is the modified maze, which is in the form of the Google logo.

The Google team has since decided to add new interactive logos on a regular basis, as Pac-Man alone, within two days of its existence, was able to attract more than one billion users to the platform.

What Google Doodle games exist

It's time to talk about some of the popular Google Doodle games that allow users to take their mind off of finding important information and relax a bit. Basketball 2012 can be counted among them. This game was released on August 8, 2012, to celebrate the opening of the Summer Olympics. Here the user is required to press only one button - the space bar. If you press the key in time, you can throw the ball into the basket and thus earn points. It is important to note that time is limited, and therefore you will have to hurry up to earn as many points as possible and bring victory to your team. A simple tip on how to reach the heights in this Google Doodle is that you don't need to use force. Press the space bar, wait for about one second and then press it again to make a throw. After scoring one ball, just repeat the ritual and take the shot with the same force so that you don't throw the ball over the basket.

The next popular Google Doodle game is Tap Goal. Here the player will have to try himself as a soccer player and score as many goals into the goal as possible. The difficulty is to find the right trajectory of the ball and the strength of the blow.

In addition, there is also a game called Pony Express doodle, in which the player will take on the role of a letter carrier in the wild west. In the game, you need to collect all the letters scattered across the desert. The difficulty here is the presence of a large number of obstacles, among which are rocks, cacti, wagons, fences and much more. But you can not lose in any case, because then the inhabitants will be left without mail.
