Free SMTP Servers

What is an outgoing mail server?

An outgoing mail server is a server that takes care of sending mail from your mailbox . IONOS operates its own servers for this purpose, as all mail service providers do.

The name of the respective provider is part of the server address of the outgoing mail server used.

IONOS Webmail already uses the correct outgoing mail server. If you use an e-mail program other than Webmail, such as Outlook, Thunderbird or Apple Mail, you must enter the address of the IONOS outgoing mail server there. This is the only way these programs can send emails from your IONOS mailbox.

The emails are sent using the free SMTP protocol , which is used to transfer emails from your email program to the server.

The IONOS outgoing mail server uses the address smtp Emails are received through an incoming mail server .
