During the 2006-07 season, Rafael Nadal won his second consecutive French Open. He won the tournament four more times in the following year and finished his career with 14 Grand Slam titles. In 2011, he won his sixth career French Open, beating Roger Federer in the final. He won the following year's Wimbledon, beating his rival Roger Federer in the longest Wimbledon final in history. After the 2008 Olympics, Rafael Nadal went on to win the gold medal for Spain at the Olympic Games in Beijing. In 2014, he won his ninth French Open title.

Nadal began his career at an early age, playing tennis at the age of four. He was inspired by his uncle, Toni Nadal, who would later become his coach on the professional tour. His uncle was left-handed and encouraged him to play conventional left-handed tennis. Despite this, Rafael eventually switched to a one-handed forehand style, and Toni Nadal is credited with bringing him to the upper echelon of tennis.

In June 2017, Nadal broke his five-year Grand Slam title drought by winning the U.S. Open singles title. His next two tournaments followed: the French Open and the U.S. Open. He missed the Australian Open quarterfinals due to an injury but recovered in time to win the French Open again. This was his 17th career Grand Slam title.
