The situation is tragic. All they did was buy a new home in Bartow County. Immediately upon moving in the home raw sewage floated in the closet and sewage floated from beneath the foundation. A strong odor in the home began to make them pass out. She cried out for help and went to the Bartow County Courthouse and filed a complaint. Mike McMillan built the home. She was accused of being a troublemaker. (all left on taperecorder at her home and also told her home was fixed). When she told who built her home, she was asked, Are you sure you want to file this complaint?????
Mold on everything, food, clothing. Again, this house passed inspection in Bartow County. Shouldn't we be asking questions? She stated yes! It was then she was informed complaints went to the Contractor's wife. The bank cannot sell the home and cannot even give it away. The family now has nothing and has lost their health. There are people in our own community and states that need help and yet help is always being sent overseas.
CBS 46 News investigates a brand new home built in Adairsville, Georgia so deadly from toxic mold that family was forced to evacuate. Family forced to leave with nothing but a bag of clothes. All furniture and everything they owned was lost to the mold. Single mom of 2 children placed entire life savings, sale of last home, everything $77,000 down on home, paying Builder Mike McMillan Homes, Inc. $157,000. Leaks throughout entire new home, including water going into light units. This was dismissed as something small, "I don't know what you are complaining about ... a small leak".
Inspection Department at Bartow County Courthouse never investigated claims and pictures reported to their office, stating "what good would it had done." Perhaps, it would have saved family from becoming seriouly ill or kept them from losing everything they owned. This included pictures of toxic mold so deadly that the inspector stated it was the deadliest home he had ever inspected and ordered the family to immediately evacuate their home.
As serious as her claim of mold was her complaint about the plumbing. A sump pump was left open and partially built in a child's hall closet. Raw sewage floated to the top and would flow into their carpet, often when it rained sewage came into their tubs. Raw sewage turns into a deadly gas that is just as deadly as the mold. It has been known to explode. However, no investigation was done by their department, even though she filed.
Contractor claimed bankruptcy against her claim costing her everything she and her children owned. This left them with nothing but medical bills and serious debt which they could not pay. This was suppose to be a brand new home, instead it appeared to be a project that could never be completed.
