I admit it, I am obsessed!  And the cause of this obsession is the intricate craft of Quilling.  A fairly old craft, it is now feeling a resurgence in popularity.  The art of rolling thin strips of paper turning out symmetrically shaped circles.  These circles, through manual manipulation can become triangles, squares, teardrops and even pieces so aligned that they are referred to as eccentric shapes.  By following a pattern, these shapes fill empty spaces to create beautiful works of art. 

Although not really necessary, it does help to work with a pattern.  That way your finished product will be balanced and easier to use.  I personally use my quilling pieces on cards, as embellishment for writing paper and as Christmas ornaments.  I have also made a larger wall hanging, a cross in the memory of my dad, even a tiny Easter Basket filled with baby chicks and bunnies.  Most of my pieces are original as I am not keen on buying patterns.  So, although I use what I see for inspiration, each piece is a little bit of me. 

Learning to Quill is not complicated, just remember to go slow and maintain symmetry.
