AUSTIN -- A man is charged with criminal mischief after he allegedly disconnected the gas line at a North Austin club, according to an arrest warrant.

The Austin Fire Department was called to Yellow Rose, a gentleman's club on North Lamar Boulevard, on July 21 after a caller reported a strong natural gas odor. When crews arrived, they could not smell anything or locate a leak. About 15 minutes later, they were dispatched back to the scene for a reported disconnected gas line.

Officials said that they found the natural gas service had been shut off, and the pipe connecting the shut off valve to the gas meter had been removed. None of the club's employees had done this. An investigation revealed that 39-year-old Lino Paul Silva had been a patron of the club that night. According to an arrest warrant, he was intoxicated and had been handing out his personal business cards for his plumbing business. After not paying at the club, he was asked to leave.

Surveillance video captures Silva being escorted out of the building and then appearing to tamper with the public gas service. Officials said that the services of a professional plumber would be needed to fix the service. He is charged with criminal mischief, a state jail felony, with bond set at $10,000.
