Hungary is a very well kept secret, beautiful countrysides, wild life, for Bird Watchers it is a Must, Hungary has many birdsites, you will see Buzzards. golden orioles, Black Redstarts, Shrikes, Storks which build nests on top of the telegraph poles you see these in the spring as you drive along the road these come back every year to the same nests. Many different species. Which you can see locally,

Horse riding here is very cheap, the countryside is fantastic for riding. this is a few minutes walk from cottage.

Here is lots of countryside, beautiful flowers, lots of forests. Scenery is breath taking, and at night you maybe see some deer.

The Lake Balaton is 55 miles long is very famous is called the Hungarian Sea as it is vast and looks like the sea, you can swim in the lake, also there are boat trips available, all around the Lake are shops, restaurants, canoes, wind surf, water slides, bars, in the evening there are Disco's , festivals, any number of activities for all.

Site seeing tours, Cultural, we have palace, castles where you can eat and drink and see a jousting show. This is about £15 inc of food and drink.

Here is a list of things that you can enjoy here very cheap:-

FISHING- many fishing sites, licence is pennys. Type of fish you will hook

are Carp, Bream, Perch, Catfish etc

CYCLING- trails galore, or group cycling.

WALKING & HIKING- scenery is fantastic, beautiful views of Lake Balaton.

TOURS BY COACH- you will find a place to book in Heviz Town.

BIRD WATCHING- many birds a few I have already mentioned above.

Hungary is very famous for the Thermal Pools here, you will find them all over Hungary. The Thermal Pools stay hot all year round as they come from under ground, the properties from the pools are fabulous for the healing of ailments in the body(eg, rheumatism, arthritis, any skin conditions & various). In Heviz you will find a special thermal swimming place which is open all year round, people come from all over the world to swim here and wallow in the warm waters for the healing, it costs for the day approx £6, if you just want a couple of hours that even cheaper.

The currency here is FORINTS, the ex rate approx 300 to £ don't change your money where you are, change it here as the rates change every day, If the rate is high change all your spending money, when its low just change a little simple, get the most value you can. You can buy a meal here for approx £5- £8 with a drink. No rip-offs.

The Hungarian cuisine is very nice, Goulash is great. lots of other different foods, you have to try them.

We are situated in West Balaton, a place called Zalaszentlaszlo, From Budapest about 3 hours drive, Graz is 2 hours, Bratislava 3 hours. We are hoping that our local Airport will be open next year this is 20 minutes away from the Cottage.

Nearby there is a Thermal Bath this is called Kehida Thermal, for all ages, 14 pools, kiddies area, slides, jacuzzi's, Bars, Restaurants. You can buy a family ticket which varies in price, depending if you want 3 hours or every day.

Zalaszentlaszlo that's a mouthful, you will find lots of places here long words, and they pronounce all letters.

The nearest town to us is about 10 mins in car or bus. bus is cheap.

Called Zalaszentgrot, supermarkets, all different shops,market on Thursday morn.

The other way is main towns called Heviz & Kesthely, about 20 mins by car or bus.

Heviz is a very famous town which I mentioned above, it is very touristy and a bit more expensive than local, you will find all nations there but you must visit as it is very lovely especially in summer with all the beautiful flowers, shops, culture, Hevis Thermal, just wondering around having some food or drink, lovely.

Hungary is very famous for Wines which you can buy for a £1 a bottle, fantastic, obviously if you want expensive you can also buy.

many thousands of wine houses in hills that make their own wines,

Many wine cellars to visit.

There are 2 Restaurants nearby within 10 minutes walking.

Then after Heviz there is Kesthely, much bigger town with a pedestrionised walking street many restaurants, shops. Here in Hungary it is like our shops used to be the butchers, bakers, tobacconist etc, you will not find the supermarkets like in uk, they don't have the money here we spend on food.

The average wage here is £200 month, make you wonder how they manage.

Kitchen /Diner fully equipped,(so cheap to eat out i don't think you will be wanting to cook/maybe).

Shower Room and washing machine, toilet, hand basin.shower.

Garden/ patio area for dining alfresco, Table & 6 chairs, 2 sun loungers, 2 bicycles, Barbeque, massive garden which is fully enclosed for safety of children and animals(dogs are allowed please clear up after your animals). I mentioned Safety, here it is very safe, you can leave your car unlocked no one will take it. The people here are very family orientated. You do not hear of crime, where we are.

The area is very quiet and peaceful, If you want noise you can go to town. The roads are very good here not like the motorways in UK.

You will not be on a race track very minimal traffic so if you are hiring a car it will not be nerve racking.

Car Hire is cheap here so don't forget your licence. also we drive on the right hand side, which is not a problem as the roads are pretty quiet compared to UK.

In our area there is a place called Triasz Apart Hotel, anyone is welcome there, There is a Bar, Bowling,

pool table, table football. Pizza also. The people are very friendly, and a couple of them also speak English.
